St. Barnabas’ Church
4, Moredun Park View, Edinburgh EH17 7NE.
The church is situated in south-east Edinburgh; it is easily accessible by public and private transport. There is a large (free!) car-park next to the church.
You are warmly invited to join us in worship. Holy Communion is celebrated at 2.30 pm on the first Sunday of each month, and at 10.30 am on all other Sundays. Everyone is welcome in our church and to receive Communion.
On the first Wednesday of each month Holy Communion is celebrated at 12.30 pm; on all other Wednesdays there is a Prayer Service at 12.30 pm. Please note that during Advent and Lent each Wednesday 12.30 service is a sung Holy Communion.
For details of forthcoming services, please see the Diary page of this web-site.
We sing hymns at each service. At services of Holy Communion a simple setting of the Kyrie, Gloria (except during Advent and Lent), Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei is sung; copies of the music are included in the printed liturgy books.
Our hymn-book is available in the following formats: words only; words only in large print; words plus melody.
The Rector, Rev’d. David Dixon, is supported by two assistant Priests: Rev’d. Alice Anderson and Rev’d. Deryck Collingwood.
St. Barnabas’ provides many additional services for the community. The Rector is Chaplain to both Erskine Care Home and Gilmerton Care Home. We work with two local primary schools, and in partnership with other churches and Christian organisations in the area to provide help and support in the community, including the local food-bank.
We are a member of South-East Edinburgh Churches Acting Together (SEECAT) that organises a number of events throughout the year. For more details see seecat.org
